Vascular Duplex Ultrasound
Vascular duplex ultrasound (duplex scanning) is a modern ultrasound method that combines imaging with color Doppler, allowing evaluation of both vessel structure and blood flow speed and direction.
When is it recommended?
∙ Feeling of heaviness, pain, or swelling in the legs
∙ Varicose veins or spider veins
∙ Dark skin patches or temperature changes in the legs
∙ Numbness or cold sensation in arms or legs
∙ Diagnostic evaluation of strokes, dizziness, and memory disorders
∙ To monitor the results of vascular disease treatment
What can be assessed with duplex?
∙ Patency of veins in the upper/lower limbs and valve function
∙ Condition of the femoral and inguinal arteries
∙ Blood flow in cerebral arteries
∙ Carotid artery stenosis and atherosclerotic plaques
Advantages:
∙ Safe and radiation-free
∙ Highly informative and targeted diagnostic method
∙ Suitable for regular monitoring
